Blog Update Process

Keeping your blog up-to-date with the latest news and information is essential for two big reasons. You want your readers to have the best possible experience. And secondly, updated content helps improve your search engine ranking.

The following article will give you some tips on updating your blog regularly. This is the same process I use for my other blogs. And much of the following procedure can be automated and outsourced to virtual assistants.

To get started, you want to set a schedule for yourself. This will help ensure that you are regularly publishing content. I like to update and post at least one article per week, but you may want to do more or less depending on your blog’s topic and your audience.

Step 01: Select WordPress Featured Image

Almost every blog post has a featured image. This is one of the first things people see when they come to your blog. It’s important that the featured image looks good. As a preliminary thing, I assume that you’ve gone through your content and found a decent blog article that needs to be updated.

Here are three tips for selecting the perfect featured image for your blog post:

Image Represents Topic: When writing a blog post, it is important to choose an image representing your topic. If you’re writing about skateboarding, don’t use a picture of a flower. Make sure your featured image is related to the topic of your post.

High-Quality Images: Make sure your images are high quality. I use stock photos, but I always customize them, so they don’t look like every other blog post.

NOTE: If you use a stock photo, make sure you have permission to use it. Check and make sure the image does not require attribution. And make sure you have permission to modify the picture with your branding.

Image Gets Attention: Think about what will catch people’s attention when browsing through their social media feeds. You want them to be intrigued enough to click on your blog post and read more.

Step 02: Create A Featured Image Logo Watermark

Upload images into an online photo editor, like Then Apply your company branding template to the picture.

Step 03: Replace Featured Image Title Watermark

Add blog article title to the image in a font that matches your brand.

Step 04: How To Name Images for SEO Fast

Name and save the image file with the SEO-friendly keyword. For example, if you were trying to rank for “blog update process,” you would name the image “blog-update-process-image” or something like that.

Step 05: How to Upload A WordPress Featured Image

Upload the new image.

Step 06: Add Alt Tags To WordPress Images

Add an image alt tag consistent with your keywords. Again, for this example, the alt tag is “blog update process.”

Step 07: Edit A WordPress Blog Article

Update the content to reflect new information.

Step 08: Publish A WordPress Post

Change the article date to today. Then publish your newly updated article.

Now that you have a process for keeping your blog updated, it’s time to put it into practice. Make a list of all the articles you want to update in the coming weeks and start researching information to include in your posts.

And don’t forget to update your social media profiles with links to your new blog posts. The more people who see your content, the better.
